the last man on earth

Dear friends from the past, I hope you read this message. I am the last man on Earth. The Earth you know no longer exists. The lifestyle you have led has caused all humans on the planet to become extinct.

Diseases have become more resistant with each failed attempt to defeat them. Their bodies have become weaker due to their dependence on machines, and the Earth has become uninhabitable because of their changes. Even though I am the last human on the planet, wherever I go, I feel that I am not alone, for I see the marks of the old civilization.

I come across destroyed buildings, now covered by vegetation that has taken over what was once a city. I see animals trapped in what was left of a bus and mountains of trash washed up by the sea. Most species have gone extinct, and the few animals that remain struggle to survive in an increasingly hostile environment, with polluted air and a warmer planet. Today, I am trying to replant a vegetable garden, but the soil conditions make it difficult to plant anything.

My life has been hard; I am a survivor in many ways, not only because I am the last human being, but because I have lived through two wars. I was born in a remote region where food was scarce, and overcoming the hardships to get here has been a constant struggle.

Every day I try to make radio contact in the hope of finding someone, but unfortunately, I only receive silence. I believe that you, in the past, still have a chance to reconcile with nature and change the course of humanity, before it is too late and I truly am the last man on Earth.
