Him, me from yesterday

He, me from yesterday

He was me, but so different from me,
How can I be someone else, if I was once like this?
What made him change, what came between us?
What from the past was lost, silencing our voice?

The past is gone, I continue on my road,
With him in the rearview mirror, I chart the new journey.
I see the solitude that is now my home,
But I still dream big, with the desired goal.

Despite the difference, we are so alike,
Our fears echo those of our parents.
I admire the certainty, which I lack,
And every morning, I feel more incapable.

In deep dreams, I feel your distant gaze,
The longing is strong, its return is constant.
I envy you the joy, the happiness of living,
I hope I can always mirror myself in you.
